Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin have heard from different care homes of times when discharges to them from hospital have been unsafe in their opinions. Likewise, we have heard from people who have mixed experiences of discharge. This is becoming more prevalent. We aim to work with care homes to explore this is in more detail and also promote this to the public to seek individual experiences of unsafe discharge.

Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin received multiple people’s stories regarding their access to GPs across Telford and Wrekin through late 2022 and the first part of 2023, many of these were negative. Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin decided it needed to provide people with an opportunity have their voice heard through a focussed survey and then to write a report based on the findings.

The survey received over 9,200 responses about GP Access.
